摘要：When a program PA (0) is searched, the tape position for search starting isidentified. A detection area is set based on the tape position and the record position of

the program PA (0). The tape is fed fast to the tape trailing side of the detection area,and rewinding reproduction is operated from the tape trailing side in the detection areaat such a tape speed as detectable of a control signal or index signal. By detecting theindex signal, the program PA (0) is searched. Alternatively, the program is searched bydetecting the position where the control signal is lost. For searching a blank portion, fastreproduction is operated from the tape leading side of the detection area. The blankportion is detected at the position where any one of the position of lost control signaland the position of the index signal is detected first. As described herein above, an eventrecorded in a recording medium or a blank portion of a recording medium is searchedeasily and precisely.
