Unit 9 This is our flat.

Teach aims and demands

  1. Learn to express thing’s owner.
  2. Learn the new sentences: This is our flat. That’s their flat.
  3. Learn some new words: a key, a window, a bed, a wall, a room, the ceiling, the floor, a wardrobe.
  4. Learn to describe their own bedroom.
  5. Learn the pronunciation of the letters “gl”.

Period 1

Warmer

  1. Greetings between the teacher and the students.
  2. Sing the song: Ten little Indian boys.
  3. Play a game. Find the different one.

T: One, three, five, seven, eight.  S: Eight.

T: White, green, one, yellow.   S: one.

Presentation

    1. T( hiding behind the door) Where am I? Can you find me?

Yes, I am hiding behind the door. ( coming out, standing in front the door)

Now, I am in front of the door.

(point to a student) Who is sitting in front of Peter?

Ss: Anne is sitting in front of Peter.

T: Who is sitting in front of Mary?  Ss: Linda is sitting in front of Mary.

Now, do you know the meaning of the phrase in front of?

    1. Play a game. Quick response.

T: Stand in front of the blackboard, please.

  Hide behind the door, please.  Sit in front of the stage, please.
3. The teacher collect some school things, some books.

  T: Whose book/ pencil/ ruler/ rubber is this?   S1: It’s my book.

  1.   T: This is our classroom, our classroom is Number 302.

     That is their classroom, their classroom is Number 301.

     Their classroom is in front of our classroom. Yes or no.

  1. The teacher show the pictures of Part A,

T: Now, boys and girls, what can you see in the picture?

S1: I can see some people.      S2: I can see a door.

S3: I can see Number 9 and Number 10.

T:  Very good. You are wonderful. Do you know where they are? They are in their flat.

  1. Listen to the tape, and imitate after the tape.
  2. Give students three minutes to practice the dialogue by themselves, then act the dialogue in groups.

Consolidation

    1. Show pictures of rooms. Write names on the pictures.

T: Look at the pictures. Can you help me to find out Anne’s flat?

S1: This is Anne’s flat. The flat is Number 9.

  It is in front of Peter’s flat.

    1. Listen to the tape of Part B, let the students imitate after the tape, and try to remember them.

Period 2

Warmer

  1. Greetings between the teacher and the students.
  2. Act the dialogue of Part A.
  3. Revise the words learned in the last lesson.

Presentation

  1. Show them the picture of Part B.

T: There are many things in the flat.

 What are they? Look at the picture.

  1. Now, look at our classroom, what can you see in our classroom?

Ask the students to tell what they can see in the classroom, then the teacher write on the blackboard, such as: a blackboard, a flag, a window, a door, a fan, a light, the ceiling, the floor.

  1. Play a game. What is missing?

The teacher show them the card one by one, let the students read the words quickly.

Then take one of them quickly, let them speak out which one is missing.

  1. Let the students imitate Part C, let the students draw and say about the pictures.

First, the teacher describe her bedroom to the students: I have a big bedroom. There are two beds in my bedroom, a big one is for me, a small one is for my baby. And there is a table, and a computer and a chair in my bedroom, and there are twe small wardrobes in my bedroom. How about you? Tell us what is in your bedroom?

S1: I have a big bedroom. My bed is nice and comfortable, I have a big cupboard. I keep my clothes in the cupboard.

  1. Listen to the tape of Part D, and look at the text, and try to understand the story.

Help the students to understand the words:

Visiting, welcome, stay, home, show.

Let the students read the story aloud, then act the dialogue out.

  1. show the word card “glad”, do you remember this word?

Yes, glad to see you again. Good.

Now read the words in Part E: glove, glass, globe. Then read after the tape.

Consolidation

  1. Listen to the tape of Part F, and finish the exercises.
  2. Read the text.
  3. Finish the exercises in the Students’ book.

  1. Show them the word cards of Part E, and let the students try to read the words.

3.Read after the tape.

4. Play a game. Ask students practice in pairs, four students as a group. They acts as a kind of vocation. Let other students guess what they are.

5.Part F  Let’s have fun. Listen to the tape and choose the correct picture.

  1. Do the exercises in their Students’ book.
  2. Ask the students read the words and sentences.

  4. Let’s the pronunciation of the letters “gr”.

Period 1

Warmer

  1. Greetings between the teacher and the students.

Presentation

  1. The teacher show the cards and pictures of Unit 4.

T: Hello, boys and girls. Look at this picture.

  Where  is the sun?

Ss: It’s in the sky.

T: Where are the eggs?

Ss: They are in the nest.

T: Yes, And the nest is on the tree.

  1. The teacher write the two words on the blackboard, in and on. Tell them the exact meaning of these two words.
  2. Then teach the word under, and tell them the meaning of it, and write it on the blackboard.
  3. Ask the students to make phrases and make sentences with these three words, in, on and under. At first, the teacher should make some examples, such as:

My book is on the desk. My watch is on my hand.

I have some money in the purse.

5. Ask and answer. Where is your English book?

  Where is your Chinese book? Where is your pencil-box?

  Where is your ruler?

  1. Show them the picture of Part A.

 T: Look at this picture. They are finding a cat everywhere. Where is the cat?

   Is the cat in the bedroom?

Is the cat under the table/ bed?

Is the cat in the kitchen?

Yes, the cat is in the kitchen, It is eating its breakfast.

  1. Listen to the tape of Part A. Then imitate after the tape. And read after the teacher. And practice by themselves, and them act the dialogue in groups.

Consolidation

  1. Have a match between the groups.

Give them a picture. Ask studentes to ask and answer the questions about the position. Such as:

Look at the picture. There is a big tree.

A beautiful bird is singing on the tree.

Under the big tree, there is a white car.

A little cat is sitting in the car.

A ball is under the car.

2. Play a game. Hide and seek.

  The teacher ask the students to close their eyes. Then she hide a thing in somewhere. Then ask the students to open their eyes, and find out that thing.

  1. Show them a picture with a bed.

T: What is this?

S1: It’s a bed.

T: Can you tell me where it is?

S2: It’s in the bedroom.

T: Can you say something else in the bedroom?

S3: A chair/ a table/ a desk/ a lamp/ a cat.

  1. The same to the words, a cupboard, a sitting room. Then let the students listen to the tape of Part B, and then read after the tape.
  2. Show them the picture of Part C, and then read after the tape.
  3. First, give the students three minutes to read the short passage in Part D. Then read Part D by themselves at the same time answer the questions.

  1. Read after the tape of Part D, and practice by themselves. And ask the students to act the story out in groups.
  2. Listen to the tape of Part E. Learn the pronunciation of the letters “pr”. Ask the students to recall more words which have these two letters.

  1. Copy the words of Part B.
  2. Listen to the tape and read the text.
  3. Do the exercises in their Students’ book.

4. Play a game. Ask students practice in pairs, four students as a group. They acts as a kind of vocation. Let other students guess what they are.

5.Part F  Let’s have fun. Paul always puts his glasses in the wrong places. Listen to the tape and draw his glasses at the right place.

  1. Do the exercises in their Students’ book.
  2. Ask the students read the words and sentences.
