among whom 是定语从句引导词。
在英语句子中，定语从句除了可以用关系代词或者关系副词引导定语从句外，“介词+关系代词”也可以引导定语从句。如果先行词指物，就用“in+which” 引导定语从句。如果先行词指人，就用“介词+ whom”引导定语从句。例句：
1、There are many students on the playground， among whom are girls.
2、A lot of people are walking in the park， among whom are students.
